😬 “Maybe if [Albertans] had to pay for it, they'd think twice about going to the emergency."

@gemelliz Missing the point completely that the reason for public healthcare is so that you don’t have to think twice before going to emergency. It helps to keep people who are short on cash from dying unnecessarily. Sounds about right for the UCP. Who votes for these corrupt asshats???
@Yup_Its_Holly @gemelliz Emergency is also not the first choice for most of these people. Thousands of Albertans have lost access to family physicians due to the UCP. Even with physicians in your area, many can no longer reach them because they close before they get off work, due to restrictions on number of patients that the UCP imposed on physicians. Emergency wait times have gone up to about 8-14 hours in many hospitals. Most stuck in them are not there by choice, while the UCP victim-blames.

@ned @Yup_Its_Holly #Alberta, don’t be #Ontario.
A year ago, physician, Dr. Nancy Olivieri tried to warned us about privatization and profiteering in medicine. People shrugged. Doug Ford won. Today, #Ontario underfunds hospitals, then pretends they don't work, and then siphons off taxpayer money to private, for-profit clinics, some located within our public hospitals.

Opinion | The too-high cost of private health care

It’s hard to miss Ford’s ongoing enthusiastic privatization of our health care, writes Nancy Olivieri.
