Hello, how are you all doing? It's been tough lately. It all started with COVID-19 and the resulting financial crisis. The recession has already begun, and even though some tech companies have plenty of money, they are letting go of employees because of that. Additionally, many jobs in tech, IT, dev stuff, writing/copywriting, and more are being replaced by AI technology. So what new skills are you learning to keep yourself employed for the next 20 years? Please comment below. TIA.
@nixCraft I'm trying to be ahead of the curve with AI stuff in case that's the new hotness.
@cadey AI seems to take the tech world by storm.

@nixCraft @cadey I am hesitant to label chatGPT, Bard, etc as "AI".

They're really advanced statistics plus machine learning.

If you ask them questions on a topic you know well, you will find well written mistakes. When you challenge them, they will admit to the mistake, but sometimes carry on making the same mistake.

@nixCraft @cadey

They in no sense "understand" your questions or their answers. Their vast datasets and the links between them help them follow the rules of human English - so far - grammar and produce very credible material.

They are not "Artificial General Intelligence", which is what most people think you mean when you say "AI".

This does probably mean they won't be taking away any jobs soon, though they may help writers, even programmers, get started.
