I've been fitting more of the PV inverter parts tonight. That's the battery isolator/fuse and PV isolator fitted now - and the first 545W solar panel.
Still running on the pathetic 7Ah batteries, with a bit of luck I should have a few 100Ah deep cycle batteries arriving soon.

@philpem I may be looking to re-home Bert and Ernie soon, because I'm replacing them with LiFePO4 for /P. I've recently acquired battery boxes for them as they're vented wet cell and I didn't want them burning the carpet in the back of the Volvo.
@tryst Please get in touch if you do - I might also have a Voltronic/Easun solar inverter spare in a few months if I upgrade, so do let me know if that's of interest for the bigger /P outings. It's a 3kVA thing, takes ~35 to 80V PV and 24V battery in, keeps the battery charged and produces 230V 50Hz AC.
@philpem Ideally I want to build a 12V system so that I'm not relying on a buck converter to run my radios, as that would be a potential source of noise.
@tryst Ahh, fair point! That'd be good for portability anyway - if you wanted to add PV, you'd only need a smaller panel (Voc of about 16V-20V) and a basic MPPT charger.
