On the day of the #Coronation, my strategy was to avoid the whole thing, so I went on a one day #linocut #printing course - it was great fun, I learnt a lot & managed to produce something that was a lot better than what I had expected to do after a few hours of tutoring.... so here it is (now I've framed it); I'm now wondering whether to invest in all the kit to make this a #retirement pass-time
@ChrisMayLA6 Lovely. My daughter loves doing these. I imagine it's a very nice exercise in catching the essence of a scene.

@JanPV

Yes, and very therapeutic - I found the day much more relaxing than I had expected

@ChrisMayLA6 Gorgeous! And it’s soothing to do? I say go for buying the kit. 👏🏼

@verbistheword

thanks, the lovely responses are definitely encouraging me to make the investment

@ChrisMayLA6
That's an astonishing result for a first attempt, you appear to have grasped the technique and developed some skill too. I enjoyed my first experience of linocutting back in the days of A level Art & Design but haven't given it much space and time in my life since, perhaps I should, or perhaps the memory of repeatedly stabbing my hand with those dangerous tools will prove an obstacle. Anyway, Bravo!

@RhiMG

thanks, I was the only male in the eight taking the workshop, and of course, the only one to draw blood - our tutor was really good & the sky effect was all her suggestion (although I cut it)... I definitely suggest popping into a beginners workshop as its a very forgiving form of craft

@ChrisMayLA6 Oh that’s lovely! The hostas are so recognisable.

@ChrisMayLA6

👆 Nice!

I chose a little kit for making jewellery casting...£25!

@ChrisMayLA6 you've obviously got the knack! I don't think I could do this even now and I've been linocutting for 6 years! Kit's not too bad to start, don't need to go for the ultra posh bits straight off - it can be very inexpensive to get started.

@blockforest

Thanks, I think the tutor played a big role in the quality of the result... kit's arrived, next project already in the planning stage
