Republicans run a con game. It's called the "Two Santas" scheme, developed by Jude Wanniski in the days of Reagan voodoo economics.

Republicans say they’re for limited taxes and small government.

Republicans in reality spend freely on their priorities and enact big tax cuts that mostly benefit the rich. They act like double Santas. They run up the deficit. Then they act like cutting good programs is the solution.

It’s a scam.

@TonyStark I cannot help but recognize the contradictions expressed by republicans. On the one hand, they extol Trump who exacerbated the deficit by $7 trillion and added even more spending, then they object to the money Biden used to rescue Americans from the COVID. Likewise, republicans refuse to accept the impact fossil fuel has on climate, but readily expect Biden to bail out cities who are bludgeoned by abnormal storms.

GOP voters have lost the capacity for reason if they ever had it.

@RJA @TonyStark it's not lack of reasoning ability. It's lack of common decency. They have embraced the concept of lying to inflame their supporters, and it doesn't matter if they contradict what they said a year before or a week before.
