This is why I don't care about getting a BestBuy refurb drive, it's basically an un-used return.

@paul Don't refurbishers wipe/modify the SMART data? Probably not the case here, though, but definitely something to keep note of.

(Not that it really matters IMO, drives die all the same -- as long as it lasts a reasonable amount of time, who cares.)

@winter some of the unscrupulous ones do, but I'd very much BestBuy would.

@paul Wouldn’t 33 power cycles and 29 unsafe shutdowns in less than one hour indicate something fundamentally wrong with the device?

@gadgetgav I've got a drive that's maybe a year or two old that lists 11k power cycles, no idea why.
