I'm an Indie Author. I writer mysteries and thrillers. No books should be banned - ever. People should be free to read what they want. Yes there should be Parental Control on what children read. Otherwise no book should be banned.
We don't know what people believe, and we largely don't care. But, if we leave the raising of our Nation's children to the very government we largely speak out against then there is something seriously wrong with the "morality" of our generation.
I agree that certain reading material should be kept at age appropriate levels in schools. Like "Fifty Shades" the book shouldn't be in elementary schools but that doesn't mean it should be banned. Banned books equals censorship.
