The mass shooting in Allen, Texas this past weekend was horrific. The message behind should add to our collective concern. I explain the history behind the terrifying letters that the shooter wore, in today’s piece. https://open.substack.com/pub/statuskuo/p/rwds-a-massacre-in-texas-and-a-warning?r=1zr8b&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
RWDS: A Massacre in Texas and a Warning to Us All

Another horrific mass shooting in Texas over the weekend added to the grim tally of some 200 nationwide so far this year. As with other massacres, the shooter wielded an AR-15 and gunned down people in a public place, this time an outlet shopping mall in the town of Allen outside of Dallas.

@jaykuo Terrifying but the link to #Pinochet seems weird to me. My guess is few Americans make the connection at all.

@jaykuo I’ve been reading or listening to the Sean Duffy novels by Adrian McKinty, which are about a Northern Irish DI in the Royal Ulster Constabulary and set in the 1980’s during The Troubles. After finish the last novel, it made me start to wonder if the U.S. is at the start of its own version of The Troubles, as the author, who is from Northern Ireland and grew up there during that time, describes the terror of that time in great detail.
@jaykuo We had a name for people like this when I was in the Navy. It was also the name for the electrical connection boxes on large electrical components. We called them peckerheads because … well …

@jaykuo

Awful. Our US cousins need to re-think their politics before they vote.
I fear for the rest of our world too. What is the matter with these hate filled people 😭 We have loads in the UK too. Hate is Utterly reprehensible and totally exhausing

@jaykuo

How much you wanna bet this dude doesn't actually have a ham radio license?

@anotherperson @jaykuo it's probably a CB.
@MikeyTsi @jaykuo
No it's a Beofang. It's popular in the prepper community because it's cheap. Ironically, it's also Chinese made and of questionable security.
@jaykuo But polls show we like it this way. I guess assault rifle shootings get us all giddy inside.
@jaykuo I was in Chile right as Pinochet was finally leaving power (1989). The stories I heard from Chileans were chilling and horrific. It horrifies me that anyone would use him as a role model.

@jaykuo "Should RWDS be taken as a serious threat?"

You mean... after only one terrorist mass shooting? That's a very.... American... question.

@jaykuo thank you for the article, excellent research. Americans are under attack by right wing extremists intentionally attempting to create constant threat from within - standard fascist political strategy. This is terrorism. And we need to treat it like that.
@jaykuo
The problem for me dealing with this is that I don't get it. Logically, I have read where it comes from, but emotionally, I don't.
@jaykuo I'm sorry but the U.S. is not united and is a failed state. A cult of individualism raised to a national ideology has not worked out.
@jaykuo
It's worth noting that the 2019 El Paso Mall shooter was *also* from Allen, TX (driving over 300 miles to commit his crime.)
@jaykuo
Those who believe it's not possible for a Latino man to be a white supremacist have not being paying attention to the history of Latin America. Unfortunately that continent has been a refuge for Nazi fugitives and was long plagued by brutal #fascist dictatorships in many countries. It's no coincidence "RWDS" cite Pinochet. At the time, anti-fascist Chileans chanted "El pueblo unido jamás será vencido". A united people will never be defeated. They were right. We should keep that in mind
@jaykuo To me this patch is "right wing dip sh*t" 🙄
