@caseyliss @djloehr @sarahhbickerton I just finished the latest episode of Football is Life and enjoyed your conversation around it. I was surprised though that no one mentioned what seemed like coldness between Michelle and Dr. Jacob and some warmth between her and Ted. Ted seemed thrown off at the end of the episode and I think it is a crack in the door to his possible return to the states. It may be about more than just Henry.
@LeadAnew @caseyliss @sarahhbickerton We did talk about that as I recall--that something was off between Michelle and Dr. Jacob, that Ted and Michelle were in sync and echoing one another (as with the Dave Grohl line), and that a reconciliation might be a way to have Ted leave while the show--or a show--continued without him. (Those are all in my notes and all checked off.) If that's how they wind up, it's most certainly not just Henry.
@djloehr @caseyliss @sarahhbickerton Huh. I wonder if I got caught with the pod playing in my pocket at some point. I must have missed that. Thanks for the show. I enjoy every time you three are on.
@LeadAnew @djloehr @caseyliss Thanks so much for reaching out Brandon, that’s ever so lovely of you to do, and really appreciate the kind words. Yeah, like you we all noticed the rapprochement between Michelle and Ted … I think our big thing is that as a result we don’t want them to go the easy route of just putting them back together when Ted inevitably goes back to the states at the end of the season :)
@sarahhbickerton @LeadAnew @caseyliss It makes sense if the three season arc is really Ted becoming the best version of himself after growing and changing in England. They’ve got four episodes to make that happen to make a reconciliation work, we’ll see. Mostly, I hope they surprise us a bit—use the tropes & subvert them.

@djloehr @sarahhbickerton @LeadAnew @caseyliss

Using while also subverting tropes is what makes the the show so great - when they remember to.
