Apple and Google lead initiative for an industry specification to address unwanted tracking

Today Apple and Google jointly submitted a proposed industry specification to help address the misuse of Bluetooth location-tracking devices.

@evacide This is a good step. It does seem easier to just stop producing products that track people, though.
@evacide Thanks for being an important & technical voice of reason that got these companies' attention to try to address these creepy tracking problems. P.S. Any initial takes re the spec? Will it work?
@Kempton There will be an open comment period and I will submit comments to the IETF.
@evacide That's very awesome of you to submit comments to the IETF. P.S. I am expert of nothing but I guess I'm "proud" to have taken time to submit comments and organized protests to fight for better Copyright Law in Canada some years ago. And I even volunteered to sit on a city task force to consider banning of Shark Fin for sale in Calgary. Both efforts didn't get the exact results I hoped for at the time but at least I tried.
