We've got two Internet links on our campus, a 10gig fiber link through our Roman ISP, and a 1gig link through the Vatican.

Right now our Rome is down. Not just our link, or our ISP, but ALL of Rome.

That means all our traffic is routing though the Vatican link, and it's grossly oversubscribed.

And I'm stuck in the quarantine room, trying to do remote video work over what has become a dial-up connection. 🀣

@PadreSJ all routes lead to Rome
@PadreSJ bro if you've got covid you gotta rest!
@PadreSJ point-in-case example of why a single connection to the internet is not a best practice

@PadreSJ dood! You must be going bonkers, because I thought you were sick πŸ˜†

Get well and get out soon πŸ‘πŸΌ

@PadreSJ If we're going back to dialup and video, I better dig out my old copy of RealPlayer.
@PadreSJ is the Vatican link not upstreamed from Rome? We have 3 connections at work, a 5gb, a 1gb, and a wireless 100mb. We found out the hard way they all run down the same conduit up stream when a Fiber Seeking Backhoe got hungry.
@PadreSJ Well, you got this message out into the world, so there is that.
@PadreSJ they must have crashed Rome fighting over ChatGPT, now it has been reconnected 😁
@PadreSJ
Welcome back to the 90s!
