So phone link people, can I have both an iPhone and Android connected, or does it have to be either/or?
@TechEnthusiast I can’t wait to try pairing my iPhone with my Windows PC. It still says that feature is coming soon for me.
@mikedoise @TechEnthusiast I don't have Windows 11 yet or I'd try it.
@kev @mikedoise I wish more of us had it, seems like one of those things which is so new to us that we'd do well to figure it out together. All you do is scan a QR code and follow directions, but at least for me, something is still getting hung up along the way. I even tried manually pairing, and that flakes too
@TechEnthusiast @kev @mikedoise I got onto the release preview insider flight so I could test some new stuff safely, and it's not working for me either. Acted like it was going to the first time but got stuck, so I restarted. Now my phone skips past scanning the QR code to pairing Bluetooth and Windows still shows the QR code. Tried reinstalling the app on my phone and resetting it on my computer. No luck.
@Laniebird91 @kev @mikedoise I suspect this will be glitchy for a little while yet. So far I can see my phone's battery, notifications I could see messages if any came through, because it doesn't show you messages that were there before you connected via the app, it's literally a matter of whatever happens while you're connected to phone link. There are clear buttons for these things as well, which I appreciate. Watching all my Masto notifications come through amuses me to no end.
@Laniebird91 @kev @mikedoise the weird thing is that I can see call history just fine. This lack of message history has to be an iMessage limitation
@TechEnthusiast @kev @mikedoise Yeah I think I read about that in some of the articles announcing being able to connect iPhones. You'll only see the messages that come in, and you can't send group messages or messages with media either.
@Laniebird91 @kev @mikedoise At the moment, I can only see my own messages. I've tried it with two people so far, and only my stuff is showing up. I haven't tried making a call yet, but that's next on my agenda.
@Laniebird91 @kev @mikedoise never mind, now I can see the messages, I must have so many that it took that long to sync
@Laniebird91 @kev @mikedoise I was just able to make a call, and if you move focus to the dial pad, you can use the number row on your PC as you can a bluetooth keyboard when connected to your phone. In other words, you can enter numbers that way and the tones register perfectly
@TechEnthusiast @Laniebird91 @kev I really really really want to test this! I still see iPhone comingsoon though. I hate phased or segmented rollouts.
@kev @mikedoise I got it paired, but boy is it basic for now. Guess what bailed me out? I was using jaws all day to try and do this, switched to NVDA, and it worked first try. #TheSimpleThings
@kev @mikedoise This is trippy as hell.. seeing my notifications from the iPhone on Windows. lol I suspect this will feel, to me akin to having eloquence coming from my phone speakers was when we first started beta testing iOS last summer. I'm going to go screw around with texting, so yeah to those of you who are among my contacts, sorry for being a pain in the ass for the next little while. #KidInACandystore #PhoneLinkforiPhone
@mikedoise I'm having issue with it, QR code pairs fine, but it's claiming pairing isn't successful. You know me, being taken down by tech is not an option, so I *will figure this out damnit!!!
@TechEnthusiast I actually don't know the answer to that question, so I boosted it for you. here is hoping someone out there has an answer for you.
@jamminjerry @TechEnthusiast and I totally boosted that question twice when I meant to reply. anyhow, you'd think you could have both, but googling's not producing anything useful.
@munchkinbear @TechEnthusiast well it is a very new thing they are doing so maybe there aren't any answers yet?
@jamminjerry @munchkinbear under the settings area for the phone link app, it looks like you can add devices besides your iPhone to it, so I'm just going to have to try it... Ever the trail blazer... lol
@TechEnthusiast @munchkinbear someone that is like me, lets see what we can break? smile.
@TechEnthusiast I'm not sure since I only use a droid. I guess you could try if you're feeling adventurous in the tech department.
