Every time 1 May rolls around I remember my parents telling me of the people's marches that would take place in our little town in #Sweden back when they were young. I never saw any, but I think a local left party still had some sort of gathering.

I went digging and actually found some images! No exact dates available, and photographers unknown, but still interesting to look at.

Oh hey, here's a wonderful one from 1 May 1899, though not from my hometown. Look at that silk banner! I wonder if it still exists somewhere?

@wirdy The one on the left is near Textilhuset if that still exists? The right one is trickier because all those buildings are definitely gone now, but my best guess is Rådhusgatan.

@curatedjenny oh my god that's where I'm at! Textilhuset is still going strong. Fascinating to know this happen at a place where I walk around almost everyday. Thank you for sharing the photo!
