Pulled up into a campsite on The Peloponnese #Greece. Going to be bbq-ing a rabbit for supper. Just fried up its liver with butter, thyme & garlic as a starter. Wow!

You can't eat poor bunnies 😭😭😱
@Cobweb I refuse to be sentimental about what animals we eat. Either we must be vegetarian, and eat no meat or fish at all, or we must face the fact that just because we consider something cute doesn’t mean it should be off the menu. Mostly what’s acceptable is purely cultural anyway. The most important thing, if we do eat meat, is to try & make sure it’s been extremely well cared for before it hits our plate. Both for the beast & for the taste.
@CatherineRussell2 I assumed that after I had been lambing - after I had actually pulled a lamb from his mum - I’d never want to eat lamb again. But it actually made me so aware of how well cared for our farm animals are (I accept some aren’t 😏) and ultimately, how we all form part of the food chain. Doesn’t stop me oooohing and ahhhing at the tiny lambs playing in the field. Or indeed cwtching one when given the opportunity 🐑😊
@CatherineRussell2 @Cobweb As a vegetarian I accept that people love their meat. My vegetarianism is not in relation to animals. It was how I was bought up. I had animals to be eaten later. My husband told my eldest daughter, when he cooked a rabbit, that it was underground chicken. She hasn't touched a rabbit since. I did eat meat for 4 years and found it wasn't for me. I can't handle the smell of lamb being oven cooked. My twin eats meat even though we were bought up the same with food.
@CatherineRussell2 I agree with you. I'm raised to respect the animals we love and eat. My grandparents had rabbits and chickens in their garden when I was a kid. They were food but we were allowed the pet them. We ate a lot of wild animals too. Deer, pheasant etc. because my grandparents lived by a road with a lot of traffic and on the other side was a little forest. Many animals got hit when they crossed the road and they landed in my grandparents garden. I miss the variety of meat.
