@marcoarment Get a kobo.
@snazzyq Ordered.
@marcoarment I still think you may not love it because of its inherent limitations as a document reader but the hardware and UX is way better than Kindle, imo.
Kobo Libra H2O: Liberated from Amazon?

The Kobo Libra H2O is $100 less than the similar Kindle Oasis. This past year I’ve been spending more time reading books on a Kobo ereader, rather than on my Kindle. The Kobo, a 2016-vintage …

Six Colors
@jsnell @marcoarment I’ll still die on the hill that the Forma was the best reader they ever made but I like my Sage.
@snazzyq @marcoarment I wish they made one the size of the Libra that was as nice as the Oasis but all in all it's a nicer platform
@jsnell I wish I could get Kobo software on my Kindle Voyage. That was peak hardware for me.
@snazzyq @marcoarment @jsnell Curious what you prefer about the hardware? The plastic body and non-flush screen were dealbreakers for me. I switched from a Libra to an Oasis (the micro USB port being the one downside for me).
@jack_regan @snazzyq he's using the bigger one with the flush screen
@jack_regan @snazzyq as for me, I have both but what I prefer is the software and also that it's way cheaper?
@jsnell @snazzyq No arguments from me there. If the Libra was flush I probably would have stuck with it. In my mind the Sage seemed too big but in fairness I haven’t actually tried it.
@marcoarment @snazzyq I’ve got Instapaper on my Boox Leaf 2
@snazzyq pi zero + eink screen and build your own? I think @dmoren might know a thing or two about that.
@snazzyq @marcoarment kindle sucks, couldn't even open my library's ebooks because it wanted amazon's dumb file format. Kobo/Tolino is really great as a digital book though :)
@snazzyq Do you use the standard software on your Kobo?
@vilhelmr I do, yeah. I’ve tried others and they’re cool, but unnecessarily powerful for me.
@snazzyq It can be finicky at best, but I love the granular controls. Which is odd, because I only use ereaders when I'm travelling, and I don't exactly have control over the experience of all the paper books I read 🤷.
