KyleGoing to say my piece about BlueSky one time then be done with it. It's fundamentally still going to be about Content Generation and Monetization because that's all Jack Dorsey and the web3 crowd understands. They're going to make it Worse On Purpose to allow Big Names and Companies to make money off using it and it's still going to eventually lean toward Making Dumb Stuff Viral because fundamentally that's what people are addicted to.
karl rove knausgård@Helmickeymouse I’m not entirely sure I endorse the rest of this (Jack seems more well-intentioned than this) but the last point is just obviously true; the social dynamics of these sites are what keep it nasty and those dynamics are inherent to popularity
@UhActually I do think he's probably well-intentioned and you have a better grasp on these dudes than I do but I'm just convinced his brain is too warped and his assumptions too built around VC to be capable to producing something good and not bad.
@UhActually it also seems...sketchy to me that this dude knows an open protocol actually exists and has, as far as I am aware, said nothing about whether his protocol would be built to play nice with it. to me, that'd be a slam dunk to say we support open protocols so we're building ours to place nice with others.

@Helmickeymouse from what I understand, his protocol is designed around portable identity instead of inter-instance communication, which I think is frankly a better idea, but it makes questions like this weird. it does make me suspicious that he’s a big bitcoin guy.
