@rbreich exactly, it is the normalisation of hatred.
Also, it is distraction from the real issues. It distracts from all their other attempts to remove rights (voter rights, worker rights, etc.).
We've been conditioned over the past few decades to accept the belief, that there is no slippery slope. It's seen as a lazy argument. Maybe it just the term that is wrong. It's not a slippery slope accidentally slid down. It's a designed staircase, we are descending.
This women will be remembered as one of the hereos of the revolution, along side with the "three from Georgia". We need this kind of heroes in all parts of the US, actually of the world: in parliaments, schools, factories, farms, administrations, commerce, etc.
Don't confuse disruptive speech to a fake "phobia."
As Levar Burton said in regards to speech:
"Yet let me remind you: Bigotry against minority groups based on sexual orientation or gender Identity, such as the trans community, is a way fascism takes root."

Nazis targeted the LGBTQ community as well as the Jewish community. Stoking fear and hatred of the "other" is a proven way to manipulate people into giving up their own freedoms. The GOP is following the authoritarian playbook.
This is an evil idea, but what if there was a campaign to convince Republicans that trans folk are actually caused by climate change? Excessive CO2, over generations, messed with their Precious Bodily Fluids…
Because you can't beat Stupid with Truth. Been tried. And we already know they won't check History.
