Maria Popova#Russia insisted that #USSR/#Soviet Bloc membership was voluntary, when it was coerced. Russia now implies/claims NATO/EU membership is coerced, when it's voluntary. Ru's manipulation isn't surprising. But Westerners who should be able to see NATO/EU's voluntary nature first-hand and who know very little about the USSR/Soviet Bloc, and fall for and spread Ru's claim are exasperating.
elpolacodesplegado@PopovaProf Even if influenced, NATO and EU worked with incentives to convince nations to join. The act of joining was scrutinous and long. Those actions had to prove they can be members and they worked for it. Does not work if you aren't intrinsically motivated.
