@pixelpusher220 it’s just today's articles with link. Plus, the mastodon.social address. I’m assuming social would have vetted it. Caution is warranted…I hope someone is digging.
@makkhorn Yep. this is why org's need to self host.
Just like an NPR email address comes from [email protected] so you know it's a legit email, social handles will have the same self verification built in...if they self host.
John Harrold@makkhorn @pixelpusher220 I'm on mastodon.social but they verified me when I put my handle in my GitHub profile. If it is NPR they can be verified pretty easily if they want. All they need to do is put their handle on the website in their mastodon profile.
Sure, but it's still reliant on a third party and just looking at a post or a message doesn't tell you it's the legit account. @[email protected] would implicitly tell *anyone* looking at it that this is the valid official account.
which email address is easiest to know is verified?
@pixelpusher220 @makkhorn What you're describing is definitely ideal. I was just pointing out what they could do if that was a legit NPR account. It would be trivial to get it verified.
