After I was laid off and going through interviews, one of my reprieves was firing up Rocksmith and jamming along on my guitar pretty much every day. It was a great way to break up the day, lose myself in the music, and build a skill.
When I started my current job 6 weeks ago, I threw myself into it and hadn't made the time for guitar. I did today for the first time since I started, and wow, does it feel like all synapses are firing!
And if anyone's curious, I have a lot of good things to say about Rocksmith. I played guitar before I had kids, but it was almost all chords and I skipped the solos and single-string plucking stuff because I always got lost trying to play along with music.
I bought Rocksmith 18 months ago to get back into playing, and I've gotten a lot better at all aspects of guitar. It's challenging, but has a well-designed learning curve. Still a long way to go, but better than I ever was before!
