Republicans are deliberately stoking political violence and provocations for violence.
They hope to create enough dysfunction to create support for a narrative of "We need a dictator, so we can quell the plebs causing problems and restore order".

They already accuse antifa of starting forest fires. Remember the Golden Dawn party in Greece? They had police support and had won parliamentary seats. The reason they were unsuccessful was because the anarchists outnumbered them and would physically prevent them from rallying in public. Violence works. Punch hard.
