Tokodon is a Mastodon client for Linux that's been gaining fanfare. It's excellent for managing multiple accounts.

I had no idea Tokodon was made by the official KDE team.

It looks beautiful -- even if the UI is a tad text heavy.

Personally, I like text. It lets you know exactly what you're doing. Too much abstraction through icons does not make good usability.

KDE apps like Kdenlive get big upgrades for KDE Gear 23.04

KDE Gear is the name of the big bundle of software the KDE team create, and with the KDE Gear 23.04 release there's new apps and plenty of improvements to making the desktop experience better.

Are there any other applications that have a Tweetdeck-like feel outside of the Advanced Web View?

@majorlinux There's Fedistar, but I personally believe it needs a little more work.

Fedistar

Multi-column Mastodon and Pleroma client for desktop

@atomicpoet Oh, so the same folks who put out Whalebird.

Might be interesting!

MastoDeck - advanced Mastodon client

The ultimate Mastodon client for power users. Real-time, fully customizable, built to match how you use Mastodon.

Thanks, but I had been looking for something that wasn't web based.

@majorlinux @spiralmind @atomicpoet @fediversenews

Did you mean text/cli based?
I just discovered 'toot' in the #Fedora repositories.

Discover Sengi

@morph @fediversenews I've tried Sengi multiple times and just couldn't get with it.
@majorlinux I found no desktop client that is fully functional. Everyone has its own disturbing habits. And in my experience none fetches conversation context properly. The only client I use and satisfies is Fedilab for Android. On desktop I'm currently back to the web client in a Firefox sidebar (not 100% happy). For getting missing context I have FediFetcher running. Hope someday there'll be a client where I "feel home".
@fediversenews
@Marcus "MajorLinux" Summers Have you tried TheDesk yet?

It's a client made for power users, for it lets you view multiple accounts simultaneously without having to switch if you so choose. Let me put it this way: Ultra-wide screens suddenly start making sense with this client.

I haven't tried what else except Mastodon it can be used with, though. MissKey compatibility wouldn't surprise me, seeing as #TheDesk is made in Japan.
TheDesk - Mastodon Client for PC

@jupiter_rowland I feel like there is a reason I haven't used it, but I don't know.

Time to circle back...

@atomicpoet @[email protected] I use it for mastodon from time to time. I also use another client called Tuba, which is available as a Flatpak.
@atomicpoet @fediversenews i love applications like this that let you interact with an internet service without running a whole damn web browser. PlasmaTube, also from KDE, is another great example
@atomicpoet @fediversenews I love tokodon too, the only issue I have with it is that when I'm outside of KDE (which I often am), the favourite, boost, and reply icons don't show; still trying to figure out why πŸ˜‚
