Stefan@to3k @f1 I heated the name Schumacher but I wouldn’t pick him. As a ‘new’ team a experienced driver is a must. Norris or Albon might be a good fit. And what about Sainz and/or Leclerc. The latter probably stays at Ferarri. Next to the experienced driver get a talent.
@IngenieurStefan @f1 A lot may change through all these years till 2026 😉 But one I can 100% agree and it’s that a new team needs an experienced driver. Surprisingly Schumacher jr may be that guy as he will get a lot of experience in Mercedes even as 3rd (reserve) driver. This is probably better for him than being 1st or 2nd in Williams or Haas IMO 😉 Ricciardo would be probably also good, but I would rather pick some rookie from F2 instead 😉
@IngenieurStefan @f1 Yes I wondered if he would not be too old till then… But for one season or two Daniel would be really helpful as a really experienced driver who already saw several team from inside 😉
@to3k @f1 I hope Daniel gets one more chance. But I also feel for the talent that doesn’t get a chance anymore. You used to get a test to prove yourself, get some time to show your speed. Nowadays you show up at the beginning of the year, get 1,5 days and go racing! And yes I’m aware of simulators. But Merc can tell you: It’s just not the same.
Kjellbastian 💎@to3k @IngenieurStefan @f1 Bottas was actually racing for merc and is already driving for the team that will develop the car. Not a Bottas fan, just pointing out that it’s not a new team per se, only a new engine developer
@kjellbastian @to3k @f1 your absolutely right. I’m a fan of almost all drivers. I like Bottas. It’s hard to impress next to Lewis. He was unfairly portrayed in my opinion. Very good driver, love his Finnish humour!
@IngenieurStefan @to3k @f1 interesting talk about Sainz being connected to Audi. Maybe that Ferrari and Santander is about to end their partnership. Lapo Elkanns deleted tweet at least showed significant tension
