Adding an easy way to create a Mastodon account on mastodon.social to the official app? Yes, please.

I don’t understand the drama around this. Not like it’s removing other instances, or the ability to switch instances afterwards. It just gives an easier way in for people who don’t understand the instances concept.

It’s a good thing. Anything that helps onboarding is a good thing, and no, it doesn’t mean the developer has gone evil or wants to centralize things. 🙄🙄

@thelinuxEXP In most digital systems the human is the biggest error source no matter what is about. So why not prevent accidental centralization by design. First of all remove the dark pattern so that in the view of the users both options are equally interesting. And the second thing is just to randomize the directly join button with a list of general purpose instances.
Many don't know (much) about the decentralization. Therefore it is a good idea to guide them in a invisible manner to prevent "mistakes".
