Yeah, yeah, machine learning and everything can upscale your photo through magic… but I am still amazed how naïvely upping the resolution and then adding a little noise can trick your brain into thinking an image is more detailed than it actually is.
@mwichary I have been using a similar trick for years when clients only have postage-resolution graphics... amazing how our brains "see through" noise but not perfect square pixels.
@stepheng Noise is fascinating. Animated noise can trick people into thinking a static image is a video, too.
