The fact that Jews, Irish and Travelers can hide their ethnicity from racists in a way that Diane Abbott can't doesn't justify her mistake. She made a mistake and her supporters, black and white, recognized this immediately and we told her. But her mistake can be explained.

Never understood how you disassociate yourself from something you created. That sound like your are excusing yourself, even if you say there is no excuse.

@blabberlicious I Boosted this because I agree with almost all of it. Your original post wasn't clear, and I thought you would want her kicked out of Labour; I'm glad you don't. I am sure I'm not the only one who asked her to make the kind of statement she did make. I don't find her apology confusing. And I think her original letter can be explained. It's about the visibility of people like her. Non religious Jews, Irish and Travelers can hide from racists. She can't. She drew false conclusions.
