I used to think Elon Musk was a smart entrepreneur or whatever, until two things happened: I bought a Tesla, which started to sow my first doubts about how well his execution is going, and then he bought Twitter and started taking direct control over software engineering activities inside it.

I happen to know a lot about software engineering. As a result, I now know he is completely incompetent. 🙃

@ariadne the success of Musk's businesses absolutely is inversely proportional to his amount of involvement in their operations

I figure if Musk had no influence over SpaceX operations that starship would've launched 1 to 5 years later, but would've achieved orbit on its first launch from a properly engineered stage zero without causing an environmental disaster. It's a damn shame given that starship is a far more compelling approach than SLS/Artemis.

OTOH, I've never owned a Tesla and never will, but I have had a chance to ride in one. Gotta say comparing it with a Hyundai Ioniq if I had any Tesla stock I would sell it very fast. The competition is wiping the floor with them.

I guess Musk's psychopathic characteristics come across as smartness or something I dunno.

@msh i got the tesla before any of the other long range EVs hit the market. it came with the battery pack connection not fully seated 🙃
