I'm sorry but this is just the funniest shit ever.

These losers were mad that celebs had checkmarks and they didn't. Now they can buy the same checkmark and they're mad that the celebs won't.

@rodhilton they're more mad they're not celeb enough for Elon to comp them lmao
@hammancheez @rodhilton may I suggest that the user catturd2 is shitposting
@katieonviolin @hammancheez @rodhilton
You may, but it's much more fun to imagine people being really pissed of about it, so we're just going to ignore you, in true social media style 😁
@MennoWolff @katieonviolin @rodhilton if you are saying 'catturd is satire' I respectfully disagree a lot, I think that choad believes 100% of what they post
@hammancheez @katieonviolin @rodhilton I honestly don't know and I seriously don't care.
I'm enjoying it here on Mastodon, so it doesn't matter to me. I still look at Twitter every once in a while, to see if I middens anything, but I don't care much about it.
I must say I do have schadenfreude at seeing Twitter sinking into the ground.

@MennoWolff @katieonviolin @rodhilton I'm not saying Twitter was the library of congress or anything but I do think it had some interesting dynamics and merit (and I say this as someone who was banned for 2 years and never got a human to review it). the gap in functionality of things like emergency alerts and crowdsourced realtime updates for protests and things also worries me.

Obviously Elon can fuck himself forever tho

@hammancheez @katieonviolin @rodhilton oh, absolutely. It's the same for me. Twitter had a lot that Mastodon doesn't, but a certain toddler got his eye on it and is intent on breaking it. Fine, I'll be watching from the side.
I think one of the best things about the bird site was that it had practically everyone there. I do feel like Mastodon is an echo chamber. All who hate musk left, so that's a certain section of the political spectrum.
