@LRRRonEarth A guy in my town just had someone shoot into the side of his dad’s house. His dad is very old and recovering from a stroke. He was just sitting in his house. Thankfully no one was hurt.

@greeneyedmonster I KNOW TWO DIFFERENT GUYS WHO HAVE SHOT THEMSELVES IN THE LEG AND INSISTED THAT NOBODY CALL THEM AN AMBULANCE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT.

@LRRRonEarth I believe it. Few people in this country can afford an ambulance, especially if they don’t have insurance but even if they do. Did they go for medical treatment another way? Or did they not want to go because medical providers are required to report gunshot wounds to law enforcement? How’d they manage to shoot themselves in the leg? Not tucking their gun into their pants, I hope.

@LRRRonEarth It always amazes me how many negligent discharges happen because people aren’t using a holster or use a crappy one. I was just telling my son about the time a school resource officer had a negligent discharge due to using a holster that didn’t cover the trigger. A similar case in AZ involved a DPS training officer whose keys got jammed in his holster’s trigger guard and the gun discharged. Ultimately DPS determined it was a problem with the service weapon itself.

@greeneyedmonster AS THEY EXPLAINED IT TO ME, THEY WERE EACH CLEANING THEIR GUNS WHEN IT HAPPENED. ONE DROVE HIMSELF, THE OTHER HAD A FRIEND DRIVE HIM. NEITHER FACED CHARGES.
