Hey #Boston #JamaicaPlain (and #Cambridge #Somerville) where do you find out about events of interest? I knew where to look when I was in Seattle but still trying to figure out the best options here (last time I lived here The Phoenix was still around…)

Especially interested in local talks, music, performing arts, rallies, etc.

@jessimurray I used to use bostoncalendar. But that was pre-pandemic. I haven't got back into the groove yet.

Also, #SomervilleMA has good arts event newsletters and other topics of interest (like climate events). https://www.somervillema.gov/subscribe

@mem_somerville @jessimurray the Boston calendar is still my go to. Hasn’t gotten super commercial or editorialized yet; literally anyone can post to it!

@jessimurray In addition to what's been mentioned already, Secret Boston also has a lot of event listings.

The Boston Calendar - Boston events that don't suck

The Boston Calendar is a place for Bostonians (and non-locals) to find interesting, fun, under-publicized, mostly-free events happening around the city and surrounding areas (e.g. Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline).

@jessimurray Cambridge Day posts a weekly Camberville arts & events calendar; this week's: https://www.cambridgeday.com/2023/04/16/a-week-of-events-in-cambridge-and-somerville-patriots-day-to-4-20-game-show-and-earth-day/

(The site is currently in the middle of a fund drive to keep going, FYI.)

A week of events in Cambridge and Somerville, Patriots’ Day to 4/20 game show and Earth Day - Cambridge Day

In a look ahead at a week of Cambridge and Somerville events, there are Patriots’ Day celebrations, school vacation fun, things to do for Earth Day but also “Weeding Out the Stoned,” a touring game show in which audiences find the narc among the stoned.

@jessimurray I agree on the Boston calendar and I find that some Facebook groups like Allston Brighton community discussion are useful
