1) Where can I find a list of all #groups?

2) How can I see all the posts of a group? Often I can't even see a single post, while the counter tells there are hundreds.

The mastodon search field has its limitations for finding #groups, cause you have to know or to guess the first letters of a group. If you enter another part of the name you cannot find a matching #group. A list with all groups or a #keywordSearch would offer the ability to find groups via any part of its name. At least groups exist to find or to publish posts of a special topic. Therefore you must be easily able 1) to find them and 2) to see the posts. Otherwise groups would rarely make sense.

@moeria here you go https://a.gup.pe/
I hope you meant that.

You can probably only see posts if your servers are federated (meaning the followers of your followers, that's why it's important in the fediverse to follow and boost more people, so we continue to connect the instances)

@bookstardust Thanks. Unfortunatly you can only find the top 50 most active groups on the list. Very handy would be a search field to enter keywords too.

Thanks also for declairing the cause of the missing group posts. But a solution is still missing yet. After all, the main reason to stop by a group is to see the group related content. If there are no posts to be seen there, people will probably not stay there any longer and it also does not inspire confidence not to see what is going on.

@moeria you can search groups through the search field of the fediverse/mastodon.

For the rest, the fediverse is a decentralized network. It was never meant to find all posts. It will never be possible with the way it's set up. The idea was, that not everything needs to be seen by everyone.
The same goes for hashtags.
If you check the FAQ on the Group website though, apparently they are trying to develop a search history and you can support the open source project.

@bookstardust Yes, this is the only way to find a group with luck, but that should not be the only way, I think. I found a request for loading the groups histories for new followers, as I understand it right: https://github.com/immers-space/guppe/issues/74

This was in Nov 2022, but I cannot see any devellopping status.

I can't shake the impression that the requests just peter out. Is it even the right place for an inquiry? Is there a more proper place?
