@amyhoy This is a good thing. For these warnings to be completely accurate, there would need to be a major security hole (of the device fingerprinting variety) in your web browser.
@gtsteel utter nonsense. i logged in with the same browser inside of 30 days.
@amyhoy It's amazing how many people seem to think "computer we're not sure we recognise" and "new computer" are the same thing
@flippac and it should recognize it, it’s the same browser i used <30 days ago
@amyhoy it’s really the worst part about installing updates. Every website I visit every damn day forgets about the cookies it had to pop up a message about that needed my approval.

@stephen terrible!

the worst thing about THIS is i didn’t update, didn’t switch browsers, and logged in with the exact same setup at the exact same place <30 days ago

@stephen @amyhoy there's a browser plugin called "consent-o-matic" that automatically handles most cookie popups (and has a "let us know" button for those on which it doesn't work) by automatically rejecting non-essential cookies.

It supports Firefox, Chrome, Edge, etc. - pretty much everything - and makes the web a much nicer place.

@amyhoy Get this every time I log in to Dropbox - totally agree!
@gpnaturephotos bingo, it was dropbox paper 🤪
@amyhoy this is me every time I sign in to YouTube and then Google spams me with 3 emails too
@amyhoy I've found that wording annoyingly presumptuous myself. So many circumstances can lead to that condition; why did the team decide that one use case was the only one that could give rise to it?
@amyhoy
I bought my laptop in late 2011 and I'm still getting these notifications.

I'm nowhere near there, you haven't quoted the ip address and I suspect I'm not the only person in the world using firefox on a mac.
