I don't remember who sang it, but Spotify pushed a cover like this (maybe it was 2002?) and they sounded like they were singing about things they didn't even experience, let alone reminisce about.

It was so cringeworthy, I had managed to push it out of my mind until I saw this (which is infinitely better).
