Just read that it’s law that you have to turn your headlights on when it’s raining in Sweden.

How the hell am I supposed to know when it’s raining in Sweden?

@dgar Yes, I know it's a joke, but in case anyone (who?) is interested. In Sweden, you always need to have your headlights on, regardless of whether it's raining or not.
@loke @dgar not true, EU regulates that if your car has sensors and RDL they can be turned off during the day (the old law hasn't been removed because it applies to older cars). You'll notice that if you look at cars in the traffic.

@fredriksvaren @dgar I don't live in Sweden anymore, so I can't look at the traffic, but I found this text on Transportstyrelsen:

I dagsljus ska du använda halvljus, men du får även använda annat ljus. Halvljus och annat ljus får inte användas samtidigt. Med annat ljus menas ljus från varsellykta, dimljusstrålkastare eller spänningsreducerad halvljusstrålkastare.

The special rules you refer to only appears to apply to rear lights.

Fordonsbelysning - Transportstyrelsen

@loke @dgar I know, but EU law replaces it, so it really doesn't matter. It is not something anyone discuss today because it has affected all cars since 2011.
It is briefly discussed here:

Bilfrågan: Har vi lag på halvljus?

”Är det lag på halvljus eller har den slopats i och med nya bilars LED-ljusramper?”

@fredriksvaren @dgar but the article you referenced will only talks about rear lights. Headlights has to be on during the day in Sweden (halvljus or varselljus).
@loke @dgar yes, because that is the problem that got worse.
You don't have to believe me, just google any picture from Sweden in daylight. Here is one, feel free to count the amount of cars with low beam headlights ("half light"). They are not parked 🙂

@loke @dgar but you are right, there is a requirement of something resembling "varselljus", called daytime running lights/DRL, but they are nothing like the lights regulated in "halvljuslagen", they are more like position lights and it is the same throughout most of the EU, simply because you don't make different models for different countries anymore.
