Boeing has not flown a single astronaut yet despite getting billions more. Meanwhile, SpaceX is on its *sixth* NASA mission and completed its original NASA contract.
Musk is a pile of steaming garbage, but SpaceX delivers when other contractors have utterly failed.
(And NASA has always used private industry. NASA does not build its own and never has.)
