I don't know their financial situation or risk tolerance, but I felt they had Fox over far more of a barrel than that -- especially with brand new claims of Fox hiding information from discovery.
Jay Reding 🇺🇦@EmilyGB @Popehat Trials are inherently unpredictable. You can ask for eleventy billion dollars in a complaint but that does not mean that you are going to get anywhere near that much. A settlement that large combined with a ruling that the 2020 election claims were false is a huge win for Dominion. Dominion was never going to get enough to bankrupt Fox, and settling for hundreds of millions was probably a no-brainer for counsel.
John Brewer@jayreding @EmilyGB @Popehat If I read FOX’s annual report right, the settlement is 65% of their net earnings from last year. And that’s before SmartMatic gets their chance at bat.
