Reading Crying in H Mart last year evoked so many emotions. As an Asian immigrant in the US, I, too, know what trying to stay anchored to your roots through food and constantly having an ‘outsider’ perspective feels like. How making parts of your identity and culture relatable to particularly White Americans often involves so much effort.
