@j this is absolutely true.

@j Bought my current house in 2013 with one of those in the basement. "We'll replace it when it dies."

10 years later still going strong and laughs at me everytime I close the door.

@j

also 1970s Refrigerator: i am the rock upon which the house's foundation was built. i am immovable and fit through no existing doors.

@pixelnull @j There's a fridge from the 40's in my basement, actually serving as support for something. No doors unfortunately, so I assume it broke down decades ago, and my grandfather just decided to use it as shelving.

@jernej__s Totally something my dad would do.

@pixelnull

@j don't forget avocado green.
@Burnt_Veggies @j I hated leaving my avocado green bath behind when I moved house. Not because I liked the colour, but someone had actually put real effort into designing something both incredibly comfortable and practical. New bathroom looks great, but not so good for the other things.
@Harryshelper @j comfortable and practical. What a concept. What will they think of next? Building things to last?
@j Dark Goldenrod is among my favourite screen backdrops.
@j 1920s ice box: hey, I'm still over here in the back yard serving as a fallout shelter, but if you add a little ice, I'm still working too.
@tippenring @j Also 1920s ice box: "Tbh I'm an ice box you could hide in to survive a nuclear apocalypse only to learn why they made A Very Special Episode of Punky Brewster about how an old refrigerator will lock you inside and become your tomb."
@j … and how about our 2 g.e. fridges dated 1950 & 1951? one still in daily use …
@shyduroff Impressive. *salutes*
@j @Fayedray I deeply miss that kind of durability.
@j I checked the serial on mine a couple years ago. It was made in 1982 and is still keeping my wasteland of condiments and leftovers frigid.

@j

2020 fridge : tell me how many degrees you would like each of my 6 different compartments to be.

1970 fridge: would you like me freeze everything into a single block of ice, or shall I let everything melt into a single puddle of ooze?

2020 fridge : did I mention, I have drawers?
