I have an indoor cat. She greets me at the front door, like a good indoor cat.
Except this morning, when I returned home in an unfamiliar car, from the wrong direction. As I got out of the car I saw my good indoor cat barrel down a treetrunk, scoot across the lawn, and leap up a wall and through a window I didn't know she could access.
Then she demurely greeted me at the front door like any good indoor cat.
How long has this been going on?

@Auntienelle Reminds me of, decades ago, we got a kitten who we wanted to keep indoors. But he very much wanted out, so as a compromise, I rigged up a harness and leash to walk him.

He enjoyed that until, one day, we got home and he shrugged out of the harness to go eat.

Long after, discovering that adult cats rarely meow unless there are people around leads to one unavoidable conclusion: House cats are always just doing a bit.

@jcolag
That was my thought exactly. They’re really wild animals who put on a show of being domesticated for us.
