Illinois’ Bold Move: 60,000 HEPA Air Purifiers To Be Distributed In Schools To Battle Respiratory Viruses.

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced today that the state is launching a $29.6 million program to distribute more than 60,000 HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) purifiers to Illinois schools to help reduce the transmission of respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.

South Korean Governmen funds mandatory air purifiers at schools

The government passed a revised school health act to improve quality of air and safety at preschools and primary and secondary schools.

The law requires installation of air-cleaning and air quality sensors in classrooms and allows state funds to cover costs. School councils and parents are also permitted to attend classroom air quality monitoring sessions, which will be conducted each semester.
