SnakeOiler@georgetakei there are 100s of millions of guns in circulation and they aren’t going anywhere, and the 2A is here to stay. What to do? I’d say: 1) raise the purchase age for all guns to 21 (like alcohol & cigarettes), 2) enhance background checks, 3) increase waiting periods, 4) restrict the type of weapons available for purchase (similar to the previous assault weapons ban). Sadly, 4 seems like a long shot. Perhaps 1-3 could eventually gain bipartisan support.
Allpoints@snakeoiler @georgetakei Would like to see #1 but that won't survive the courts. Would like to see #2 as well but that would require a true instant background check system that's usable by the public.
