Watching all the small, valuable bots like weather warnings announce that they are closing because Twitter has shut off API access saddens me.

@billt so much unnecessary disruption.

I'm watching new organizations join, lots of US news outlets. But when will my state ferries join? My backwater fire-and-rescue service?

Our civic life has been shot full of holes.

@billt I've had to shut off my flood warning bot - as well as some of the more silly ones.
Ah well, good time to move on.

@billt nah. Very necessary. People probably shouldn't have been relying on a central system for those sort of things.

@Edent fair point. Having a federated service that can feed the main assembly points is a better option. If we can get there from here.
