@atomicpoet and there was no "spike".
This is organic growth. I suspect the next million to take a little less time and to see mastodon to double in about a year.
@tuningmind @chake
It is used when you want to briefly describe a tedious activity that requires patience but that will succeed in the end
"hows it going with <task>"
"Mühsam ernährt sich das Eichhörnchen!"
That last million came on fast. Now I wonder when we are going to see all the haters and other shitheads we seen at twitter and other places
Yes, I understood that part and that I could end up being on a server where many shitheads would force me to change server or build my own.
Are there some way of have my postings not visible to people not on my friends list? Would be nice to be able to separate different kind of postings in the same way as I can on Facebook
So, 20.000.000 (or more) by the end of the year… :)
@sol @atomicpoet
https://mastodon-analytics.com/
~1.2M monthly active users for Mastodon according to the Stats API, out of ~6.6M total. (The usercount bot actually counts Fediverse users, since it uses instances.social figures, which includes non-Mastodon AP servers.)
I've been watching the MAU number closely, since it (unsurprisingly) has dropped steadily since the Muskocalypse, but it's started creeping up again over the last week and a half or so.
@slyborg @sol Sure, but keep in mind that fediverse.observer counts 7.2M, the-federation.info counts 8.5M, and @mastodonusercount counts 11M.
Likewise, I suspect MAUs is somewhere between 1.1M and 2.5M.
Somewhere in there is truth.
@atomicpoet Next stop 100 000 000
Bye Twitter!
Welcome to the Fediverse
@atomicpoet Very positive review in New Scientist this week:
