If you're shocked TX Gov Abbot is planning to pardon Daniel Perry for murdering a man at a peaceful BLM march—just remember—TX is the state that sentenced a Black woman to 5 years for an uncounted ballot, but not a white male judge for deliberate voter fraud—in the same County. TX sentenced a Black kid to 10 years for punching & killing 1 person, but not an affluent white teen for getting drunk & killing 4—they had the same judge

Texas GOP has proudly chosen fascism over democracy. Believe them

@QasimRashid Texas is just weird - Has some of the best universities in the world - but is full of ignoramus's???

@Probertd8 @QasimRashid

Texas does have some fine universities. But among the best in the world? I find that hard to believe.

I lived there in 2008 when the University of Texas at Austin cut its professors' wages while raising the football coach's annual salary from $2-million to $5-million.

UT was a C-grade school before then, and that didn't improve it any.

@johnlogic @QasimRashid I mean any metrics are always going to be subjective - But Austin Texas University - I mean it comes up in so many research findings from a publication like The New Scientist.

@Probertd8 @QasimRashid

UT Austin is one of the USA's 10 largest, so I expect that its having more students contributes to you seeing more papers from its students.

@johnlogic @QasimRashid John rather unsurprisingly Texas Universities generally have a lot of money to spend - that attracts a lot of talent.
Anyway my old line is - If I was giving out stars for US states I'd give Texas a lone one.

@Probertd8 @QasimRashid

For Texas universities, this is the order I'm used to:
1. Rice
2. UT Austin
3. Texas A&M
from https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/tx

UT has about 10x the size of Rice.

I've worked with a few very bright people from Rice, and many perfectly adequate people from UT.

@johnlogic @QasimRashid Overall I stand by my statement - caveats accepted.
