@dangillmor in Montana they're getting the itch to just go straight to burning them:
Backers of an obscenity bill that seeks to criminalize school staff told a Senate committee Friday afternoon the committee chair was censoring speech when a proponent tried to read passages from a book aloud, while another told lawmakers: “It looks like there needs to be some book burning.”
@dangillmor I can't find the link at present, but I saw this recently equated to when public pools were ordered to be de-segregated and the white southerners just... got rid of public pools.
Seems accurate to my thinking.
That supposedly happened to a public pool in my hometown of Huntsville AL. While there are several excellent (and integrated) pools here now, every time I drive by the local city art museum, I imagine the filled-in public swimming pool formerly in the same spot.
