Speaking as an anesthesiologist that's spent more time in labor and delivery than most non-obstetricians will spend in their lifetimes, I cannot stress this enough: innocent people will die if mifepristone is outlawed. And it won't be in a few weeks or months— it will happen within hours. Judges should not be practicing medicine. Full stop.

@DataDrivenMD
Thank you for your insight.
Until it happens to someone they love…
They. Don’t. Care.

These are the same kind of evil MF’er’s down in the TN State House, destroying…

@DataDrivenMD

The deaths of women *IS* the goal.

The "Court that Koch Bought" hates women.

Corrupt Texas donors like Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks belong to fundamentalist Christian sects that hate women.

Republicans hate women.

By criminalizing medical care for women & trans, the GOP can saddle millions with criminal records to disenfranchise them.

Just as they did with PoC & the "war on drugs" - GOP disenfranchised a million people in Florida & and in Tennessee using that tactic.

@Npars01 @DataDrivenMD

In April 1865, after the capitulation of the Southern army, the civil war still continued against the Afro American minority to this day, mainly by law enforcement and white supremacist thugs.

In April 2023, the civil war had spread to many "red" states, and now targets also women, girls, LGBTQ+ people, school children, physicians, teachers, judges, lawmakers, governors, union workers, - anybody considered a threat to the fascist Republican ideology.

QUO VADIS USA?

@DataDrivenMD I was under the impression that only licensed doctors are allowed to practice medicine. It is just about control of women.

@DataDrivenMD Well, I'd not oppose them doing so. They'll need to attend university, for 5 years if it were here, then do house jobs (that might be internships IIUC) for a couple of years, and then they can practice, but they'd need a 3-5 year programme in a specialty and fellowship in a college to do so unsupervised.

The index one may have under-estimated what he has yet to learn.

@DataDrivenMD thanks for this. People often think of pregnancy as one specific path, when in reality it is a complex condition that takes many twists and turns and requires a wide variety of medical tactics to ensure safety and health. Yet another reason all of these choices should be available for patients and their teams.
@DataDrivenMD Pro-choice arguments continue the refrain "women will die." The anti-choice people do.not.care. It is irrelevant. They.do.not.care about choice, health, lack of child care, over population, poverty, women having control over their own bodies, rape, economic harm & crime, rights. The argument must be reframed & well enough to over-ride their bottom line. It is critical to remember that their loudest voices come from those who do not care about civil rights.
@DataDrivenMD Can you give some scenarios on how this might happen?
@DataDrivenMD the same people who don’t care that women will die are also the ones who don’t care that children keep dying from mass shootings. They just don’t care.

@jmhmoe @DataDrivenMD Contempt of human life has never been part of Abraham Lincoln's true Republican Party's platform.

Nor did Lincoln's party ever embrace the thought & concept of a totalitarian, anarchistic minority ruling & running over the majority of the people.

What calls itself "GOP" today has absolutely nothing in common with Abraham Lincoln's Republican Party.
And its totalitarian, anti-constitutional & dicktatorial ambitions naturally disqualify it from any eligibility to be allowed to run for public offices under the United States.

@DataDrivenMD. I'm a lawyer. I like being a lawyer. I should have nothing to say about any pregnancy.
@DataDrivenMD
I absolutely agree. This is madness.
@DataDrivenMD they don't care, these restrictions are not for them, just everyone else
@DataDrivenMD
It should be a decision for doctors etc not judges what medicines they use- those who actually know what they are talking about.
@DataDrivenMD if his actions lead to a death I can easily imagine a scenario where a grieving relative uses their second amendment right to retire the judge from the bench.
@DataDrivenMD I have nothing more to add.
@DataDrivenMD That particular judge is not practicing medicine; he is practicing religion.
@DataDrivenMD 100%. The chance of complications from misoprostol, alone (not just "discomfort", as stated by some) is much higher. That's why it's imperative that both medications be used. This is a medical issue. Legislatures and the judicial system should butt out.

@DataDrivenMD Speaking as an Ivy-League educated writer who's watched the American Right for a few decades, the people who want Mifepristone outlawed want people to die, especially minorities.

That's the whole point.

@DataDrivenMD
British Columbia just made birth control free. Just for the sake of contrast.

@DataDrivenMD You’re totally correct with one exception…

These judges aren’t practicing medicine, they’re practicing theocracy and religious repression.

@DataDrivenMD THEY DON´T CARE IF PEOPLE DIE
