Lost Judgement, the Yakuza spin-off, has a side-mission where you're hired by a game studio to find a runaway game director. A thread with minor spoilers. #gamedev
Of course, it doesn't take long to discover that the whole thing stinks of toxic workplace, with untenable deadlines and in this case a pressuring evil publisher.
You eventually find the runaway game director, with the help of your cute detective dog of course, who traces the smell of the chain-smoking game developer, and he confirms your suspicions.

After a while, the evil publishing producer shows up, threatening the GD with murder if he doesn't get back to work. You beat up the producer bloody, the GD negotiates that all overtime be paid, and eventually accepts to get back to work.

But the game is due in a week, how will this ever work ? Fortunately the studio head has a solution: crunch non-stop till the last minute, and push everything into the day-1 patch. Ah, I've heard of that one.

Ultimately it appears that the returned GD has found his motivation again and is more or less working his team to death to make an incredibly tight deadline. Come on Yagami, you could have had such a positive impact here ! Ah well. Next time I guess.

@werejul That all seems uncomfortably close to reality of the AAA development.
