SCOTUS Justices clearly can’t be trusted to police themselves.

And Roberts has shown little interest in holding them to account for numerous conflicts of interest.

The Supreme Court is facing a legitimacy crisis, and failing to hold Thomas accountable will only make it worse.

I think it's obvious they aren't "approaching" a crisis, they're in one, precipitated by their own behavior. Like so many on the right, they've sacrificed credibility for personal gain.

@rbreich Roberts has no power in 6-3 court. He did nothing in the 5-4 power that could have stopped it.

Resignation is the *only* semi honorable course left....but he's still fully responsible

@rbreich I’d be glad to pay them more, so they can pay for more perks themselves, and then hold them to the same standards as all other judges.

@rbreich what would be the way forward? There is no code of ethics for #SCOTUS. They answer to no one. #Thomas was confirmed as a known sexual predator, and he has suffered no consequences for his association with his wife’s egregious conflicts of interest. Serious question: Who could punish this behavior and what kind of punishment would be possible?

@rbreich alito, Thomas, roberts all voted for Citizen United. Can they be held accountable if they received money/gifts to vote for it? Can the citizens of the US have standing to sue them for destroying democracy? All so shameful!

@rbreich There can never be a case where bribery is permitted. This endless excuse-making that the Court hasn’t specifically prohibited naked corruption holds no water. Taking expensive gifts while making decisions that govern the lives of millions is corruption.

@rbreich the most corrupt thing about that obnoxious Justice Mr. Ginni is not that he lets the corporate fascists buy him good times it is the fact treasonous Ginni makes plenty of money from interests before the Court and tries to keep it all secret.
