Twitter Adds ‘State-Affiliated Media’ Label To NPR Account Putting It On Par With Russia Today

Twitter added a warning to NPR’s Twitter account on Tuesday, declaring it as “state-affiliated media,” a label that’s typically been reserved for foreign media outlets that represent the official views of the government, like Russia’s RT and China’s Xinhua.

You are only giving Twitter's new abominable existence oxygen by logging on to the platform everyday and flaming each bit of news (via tweets!!)

I know it's hard but make a commitment to stop tweeting. Uninstall the app; lurk if you must via web with ad blocking.

Organizations need to stop yelling and just distance themselves from the service.

Same kinds of people have access to your Twitter DMs!

Attached: 1 image Oh look, another safety feature I helped build being misused and ruined in the Twitter 2.0 era. This is clearly petty and stupid, I’d be very upset if I wasn’t actively rooting for Twitter to go bankrupt at this point. https://twitter.com/krishnanrohit/status/1644249061187264512

@44 i just tried this and it doesn’t seem to be true? At least for the account I tried several links from.
@dml seemed very widespread unless they rolled it back, which would be normal for the current shitshow https://www.techmeme.com/230406/p24#a230406p24

@44 where's the gain though for this one?Doesn’t make much sense.
@44 or possibly literally the same people, given how tesla people now moonlight at twitter.
@44 i love sports content on there but uninstalling the app to use a web browser with ad blocker makes sense. Done.
@mattcrwi yeah it is hard to replace the sports content 😞

@44 I've also legit learned a lot for my career by following other programmers.

I can only imagine someone who made a career off the algorithm not being able to give up the algorithm until it's truly dead.

@44 use Nitter services for browsing twitter, like https://nitter.unixfox.eu/

Nitter

@44 If you're going to lurk on the birdsite, make use of Nitter.

And if you don't want to run your own instance of Nitter, you can find public instances.
