I think I understand the new social media landscape

Twitter is where you complain about Twitter

Bluesky is where you skeet about Twitter, and post nudes

Mastodon is where you complain about Twitter, with content warnings, on a server run by the SRE at your old company

It turns out not having to copy and paste usernames into search boxes just to do a follow is kind of a big network effect #bluesky
Bluesky, why not

To counter my own argument, a lot of key communities from Twitter are going to Bluesky and not the fediverse. And supposedly Jack is not involved day to day (though still a key backer).

I'm cautious to set up a new home for that reason but guess I should at least park a name on Bluesky? I'll take an invite if anyone's holding 🤷

well it seems like today everyone is hopping on bluesky. what happened?

(fwiw i think mastodon is clearly not the answer, but I need Jack NOT involved in whatever is next)

The worst thing that ever happened in software engineering was when Kirk asked Scotty how long something would take and Scotty said thirty minutes and Kirk said you’ve got five and Scotty got it done in five and impressionable children watched this and grew up to become managers.
For people trying "Bluesky" - just remember what Jack did to Twitter, starting with supporting the sale to the buyer with his whole chest.
Now that legacy checkmarks are gone on the bird site, you have the perfect filter of who to block
At some point a tipping point of journalists and outlets need to realize New Twitter sees them as the enemy. They hold on for dear life to this addiction while the company kicks them in the head. Come up with an exit plan and leave.
